Blind Assessment
Vibrant, juicy and deeply aromatic. Black currant, pomegranate, pink grapefruit, candied violet and dark chocolate in aroma and cup. Bright, wine-toned acidity; plush, syrupy-smooth mouthfeel. The finish is long and resonant, foregrounding black currant, violet and dark chocolate notes.
Notes
This coffee earned Finalist recognition in the Traditional Washed category, U.S. division, of the inaugural Kenneth Davids Cup. Produced by smallholding members of the Gikanda Cooperative, from trees of the SL28 and SL34 varieties of Arabica, and processed by the traditional washed method (fruit skin and pulp removed before drying). The Westside Coffee Company is a Utah-based specialty coffee roaster and cafe. Visit www.thewestsidecoffeecompany.com for more information.
Bottom Line
A classic, beautifully structured Kenya Nyeri with classic currant notes, bright citrus and sweet florals anchored by deep chocolate richness.
